About GISU:
Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) is a co-educational school
which provides international education to students between 2 and 19
years of age. From kindergarten to year 13 students are taught using
student-centred methods. Emphasis is on the development of the whole
person. Students in years 10 and 11 are prepared for the International
General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination and those
in years 12 and 13 are prepared for Cambridge A level examination.
These examinations administered by Cambridge International Examinations
(CIE) are recognised worldwide. The school is privately owned with a
Board of Governors and the day to day running of the school is managed
by the Principal. The school is staffed with qualified and experienced
staff from UK, USA, Canada, Turkey and East Africa.
Job Summary: The Swimming Coach will support the Galaxy International
School by being responsible for keeping a check on the physical
condition and mental attitude of your swimmers. You will support
swimmers by attending events and competitions of galaxy international
school.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will support swimmers by attending events.
· Swimming teachers help people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills and techniques, and to exercise in water.
· Swimming coaches train and develop competitive swimmers.
· If you are a good swimmer, and you could motivate and inspire others to develop their skills, this job could suit you well.
· To do this job you would need to be a good communicator and have the ability to encourage people and put them at their ease.
· The incumbent will qualify as a swimming teacher or coach by completing qualifications awarded
· As a swimming teacher or coach you would: teach or coach one-to-one or
in groups plan and deliver sessions appropriate to the level of swimmer
provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques correct faults
in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance make
sure safety standards are followed check that life-saving equipment is
in full working order organize and supervise assistants and helpers
· Deal with all minor injuries and accidents.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Swimming teacher or coach you should have: an interest and ability in swimming
· Excellent communication skills
· Proven ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers perseverance and patience
· Excellent organizational skills
· Proven ability to encourage people and put them at ease a commitment
to swimming participation for all drive and enthusiasm a competitive
personality.
