Job Description:
Provides leadership to the Finance
Department and shall be responsible for the financial administration and planning of the University and shall maintain the accounts in a form determined by the University Council.
Duties & Responsibilities:
*Preparation of Financial Statements
*Overseeing management of income,
expenditure, stores and assets of the
University.
*Maintenance of sound financial
accounting system, records keeping
and internal controls.
*Coordinating with External Auditors
and enable them conduct audit.
*Promoting effective communication on Financial/Accounting matters among Units of the University.
*Providing sound advice to management on University finances
*General management and
administration of staff in the Finance
Department.
*Any other duties as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
Qualifications:
Honours Bachelors Degree in
Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting/ Finance Option) or BSc. Finance/ Accounting.
Masters Degree in any of the following:
MBA (Accounting/Finance Option)
MSc Finance
MSc Accounting
MA Accounting
Full Professional Accounting Certificate
ACCA or CPA.
Must be a Member of the Institute of
Certified Public Accountants of Uganda
(ICPAU)
Minimum work experience required:
At least Ten (10) years of relevant work experience, Five (5) of which must be at Senior Managerial level in a large reputable Organization/Institution/ Ministry, after Post Graduate degree or Professional qualification.
Tenure of appointment:
The appointment shall be for a
Contractual period of five years with
effect from the date of assumption of duties, and may be renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
Age Limit: Applicants should not
exceed 55 years of age on the closing
date for receipt of applications.
Salary: Makerere University M.3 Salary Scale, with attractive fringe benefits.
