OVERVIEW
 Millennium Promise Alliance Inc. is the leading international non-profit organisation solely committed to supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals through the implementation of the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) in 10 countries across Africa. The Millennium Villages Project (MVP) implemented by the Millennium Promise and supported by the Earth Institute at Columbia University is a new bottom-up and integrated approach to lift developing country villages out of the poverty trap that afflicts more than a billion people worldwide. The Millennium Villages’ teams of experts in agriculture, nutritionand health, economics, energy, water, infrastructure, environment and information technology are working with local communities and governments to apply a scientific proven holistic package of interventions to help villages get out of extreme poverty and meet the universal Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).With Support from Government of Uganda, Millennium Promise implements phase II of the MVP in Isingiro District. The project seeks to recruit a qualified Ugandan National for the position below:

Position: Health Coordinator
Duty Station: Mbarara Uganda
Reporting to: Team Leader
Open to Ugandan Nationals Only

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the health sector with these key responsibilities;

a) Planning and implementation; Plan, manage coordinate and ensure achievement of performance targets in the health sector in MVP.Spearheading the health sector in developing annual and quarterly work plans.

b) Supervision and Management; Conducting support supervision and coordinating health facilitators in implementation of community health interventions.Managing and effectively supervising MVP health facilitators and facility-based health workers and strengthening their skills to ensure delivery of quality health care services.Ensuring submission of endorsed weekly, monthly, quarterly plans and reports of the sector and of sector staff to the team leader.
Spearheading and effectively managing community health interventions with special focus on immunization, sanitation, HVI/AIDS, malaria, family planning and sexually transmitted infections.Ensuring supervision, coordination of Community Health Worker activities and training of CHWs in thematic areas.

c) Scale-up and Transition: Supporting the M&E in the end-term Evaluation through provision of oversight and technical support to the health component of the final evaluation of MVP in Ruhiira.Working with the Isingiro district leadership to implement scale-up activities. Develop, manage and nurture effective partnerships with National, District and other local government authorities responsible for planning, policy, and implementing health activities.

d) Research and Knowledge Building: Organising monthly meetings for all sector staff and other stakeholdersOrganise and undertake capacity building activities such as trainings and workshops targeting sector staff, MVP staff and other stake holders.

e) Partnerships and collaboration: Working with Team in fostering and implementing activities with partner organisations, NGOs and communities Skills Required:
-Team work and leadership skills.
-Community interaction and mobilisation
-Capacity to work with and support groups with specific/special health needs.
-Creativity and ability to handle community health needs.
-Capacity to utilise ICT for communication and health service management

Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in health related field such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy (Master’s Degree in related field would be desirable).
2. Minimum of 5 years working experience in Government or Non-Government Sectors.
3. Proven experience of managing health care interventions and activitiesMust be registered in a recognised professional medical body.
